**UPDATE: Thank you to Chiara, who kindly bought this vintage item.... all proceeds (minus PayPal fees and shipping) now donated to Brighton Food Bank) **
I'm not really in the business of selling vintage clothes, but occasionally I need to clear space in the closet so here is where I'll be adding the odd piece from my own personal collection that I have built up over the years for research purpose, or that I have discovered on my treasure hunts in charity shops and flea markets and have no space for.
** I will be passing on all proceeds (minus PayPal fees and shipping cost) from sale of the original vintage items to various good causes. The proceeds from this item will be donated to a local Brighton Food bank **
This is a beautiful black 100% wool cape by British label Susan Small, who was producing garments in the 1960s and 1970s.
It is full length, with two jetted slits for hands/arms, (which have a couple of loose stitches on one side, easy to tack back in place) and braided trim to the curved side seams and the two-buttoned collar.
This is in superb clean condition, with no musty smell, and is a rich jet black with no fading or marks. The only flaws that I noted (apart from those previously mentioned) were a couple of tiny pin holes to the back, only noticeable when I really examined the cloak in great detail and only visible when held up with a bright light behind the fabric ....certainly not detracting from the beauty of this classic 1960s item when worn.
I have photographed it on a mannequin with the following measurements;
Bust; 33" (would comfortably fit up to a 40")
Length; nape to back hem, 57" (could easily be shortened)
I would say this would ideally be best on a UK size 10-14.
Owing to the unique vintage nature of these items, and the fact that all proceeds (minus PayPal fees & shipping) will be donated to charity. I don't offer returns, so please be sure to check the measurements above before buying. These are the measurements of the standard UK size 8 mannequin on which the dress is shown in the last image, with any excess room indicated.
We do ship internationally, and I have included some figures for a few of the more popular destinations, but if your country is not listed please get in touch for an accurate shipping quote before completing checkout. Please be aware that there may be import tax payable at point of entry according to local tax laws.
